What is DELF?

The French Proficiency Test is targeted at non-native foreign nationals. There are three tests administered by the International Center for French Studies (CIEP) to measure a person's fluency in French.

The Test Structures:

1. Reading

Examinees will be given some short writings and answer some questions based on the text.

2. Listening

Participants will listen to the recording and be asked questions based on he recording.

3. Writing

The material will be different for each level.

4. Speaking

Participants will be given the opportunity to communicate or role-play with the examiner. But at a high level, participants are required to discuss and convey their opinions to the examiners.

The Level of Competency:

Test the most basic language knowledge. Examinees must understand some expressions that are often used in daily life. 

Level A1

Examinees are expected to be able to communicate using polite language to exchange information.

Level A2

All levels of competence are independent (no need to rank by level) so a person may register according to their respective abilities.

Examinees have the ability to argue and negotiate in French.
